The silent wishes of one billion storng is fulfilled today, the 11th of august 2008.

Abhinav bindra became the chosen one to win india its first olympic gold in an individual event, the 10meter air rifle to be precise. with this feit Bindra becomes part of indian sporting legend. it took india 108 years to fill the void in the olympics gold coloumn.

Abhinav BIndra (september 28,1982) was born to an affluent family who could afford the luxury of having a private shooting ranch at their estate. he also has the record for the youngest participant taking part in a common wealth games , at 15, in 1995. Abhinav was known to be a prodigy.

THIS IS WHAT BINDRA HAD TO SAY AFTER HIS GRAND SUCCESS.

``I sincerely hope this win will change the face of Olympic sport in India,'' the bespectacled Bindra said at a news conference. ``In India, Olympic sport is not really a priority, so I hope Olympic sports in general can get more attention.''
